The Mask – finished painting?

While I am not sure I am calling this ‘done’ for now – this is where it’s at.  While the paint part is definitely done, I do want to add a ton of tiny glass ‘gem’ embellishments in certain places to give it a bit more of a mixed media feel.  No real reason other than I have had a little box full of these ‘gems’ for years now and never really figured out what I wanted to do with them.  They are so small I need tweezers to pick them up and it’s really fiddly sticking them on one by one.  Perhaps a ‘dull day’ project?

Anyway, I did end up using a fair bit of gold paint, which is quite hard to see in the photo, but when the light hits it it does look quite bright.  The butterfly part on the mask itself is also painted gold so reflects really well in the right light.

I must admit to going a bit nuts with the black lines, but as this was really just a piece for my own fun, it didn’t really matter.

So here it is – acrylic on 11 x 14 inch stretched canvas.

Hope you enjoy!
