It’s been a while!

I had hoped to be posting more often, but I’ve been tied up with other things lately, so thought that for now I would simply share a very early stage work-in-progress.

As you can see it’s one of those Venetian Masks – well, it will be eventually! I did start off with a more purple theme in mind, but then changed my mind, so I am merely changing the colours at the moment before doing any real detail.

I am using my new acrylics (been having fun mixing) – and it is on an 11 x 14 inch stretched canvas. I usually like to paint much bigger, but thought as a test piece, and getting back into the painting mode it would do just fine.

The canvas itself is quite textured, so I am having to rethink how to paint in the very small details, but there is plenty of time to think about that. Currently the focus is on just getting my colours sorted and decide what goes where. Once that is done, I can start painting in the real shapes – some will be flowers, or folds of material, bits of this and that and at the end, probably a lot of ‘gems’ to paint. Again though, that’s still a way off.

So here is the work-in-progress as of today (or really this week!). Hopefully I will get back onto it later today or tomorrow, and will update this post or maybe just post a new one. Oh the decisions!  While the colours shown are quite close, it is a bit overcast here today so my art room is a little dark.
