Well after having a WordPress account lurking in the background for quite some time I decided to come on over and try it out. My old blogger account is just about up to 60K views, but I had a problem with spam last year and almost decided to close it down completely. Instead I thought, let’s try something new and see how it goes. So for the next little while I will be posting in both places (for those that have my other site bookmarked etc).
While I was transferring some of the posts over, I realised how little I had done last year. Some of you may know that my Mum passed away in November 2014 and I headed down to New Zealand for just over three months to help my Dad out.
What I didn’t know at the time was that my Mum actually passed away the day I left Canada, so you can imagine the shock I got when I finally arrived. I am so glad nobody told me while I was in transit, as it would have made it such an awful journey. Mum’s funeral was in the afternoon of the day I arrived – to say I was a bit of a mess would be an understatement – but I got to say goodbye and be there to support my Dad.
I wouldn’t exactly say I had a ‘nice holiday’, but it was lovely to spend so much time with my Dad and help him move house, spend Christmas with my ‘kiwi’ family, catch up with some really good friends I haven’t seen in a decade or more (thank you for doing all you did), and also meet some of my parents’ friends who all turned out to be such lovely people who I remain in touch with.
Back home in Canada for almost two months now and it’s time to get cracking!
If you’re new to this blog, I hope you enjoy looking at some of the older posts I brought across, but all going well, this year I am going to focus on doing some other art – mainly collage/mixed media, and also watercolours. I also hope to do some tutorials/videos (I still need to find a decent mic). So – lots of plans for ‘art’ as well as learning all about using WordPress as a blog platform.
In the next week or so I will be adding a few new posts that are about some older work I have done so bare with me on that – I simply want to share it, and mention some of the lovely people I have worked with.
