I’m a huge fan of history, be it recent or even way, way back – in fact the further back the better.
I enjoyed watching the UK “Farm” series where the presenters not only live the life, but also go through a whole year of farming the land as it would have been done in bygone days. There have also been shows I’ve enjoyed where whole families live through various decades to see how they cope compared to modern day living.
For me it is simply interesting to see perhaps not only how my ancestors lived, but in some cases how my own parents may have lived as children. (My parents were children during WW2).
Several days ago I came across a short show called “Time Warp Wives” which showed people in our current time who embrace as much of a bygone decade as they can when it comes to fashion, values, home decor and so on.
As coincidence would have it, a friend of mine on Facebook posted a photo of herself in her ‘1940s’ look. I thought it was wonderful and sneakily decided to do a digital painting for her. It took me a while and many, many layers, but luckily she loved it! Not only that, but she agreed to let me post it here in my art blog. (Thanks Shann!)
So I give you the lovely Shannon in her 1940s look – and below that, the fun ‘war time magazine’ cover I did for her too.
