From "Six Pack of Fear" – the short story "The Snack" is going to be made into a movie…

June 2014 – I thought I would update this particular blog post that I wrote back in January 2013.  You see the fabulous news is that the story “The Snack” from Betty Dravis is being made into a movie!  How awesome is that!?!?!

Betty contacted me a little while back asking if I could change a few things on the art for that story which mostly consisted of turning the little girl from brunette to blonde. I was more than happy to do so, although as I’d only kept a small copy of each of the art works, it was a little tricky!  Still, we got there in the end.

Do feel free to check out the Facebook page for the movie – if you’re into horror and paranormal, then this is going to be well worth the wait!  You can also find the book on Amazon via the links in the original blog below.

Congratulations to Betty!!!!!!!!!!

January 2013 – original blog

Many months ago the fabulous author and friend of mine, Betty Dravis, asked me if I would like to do some art work for the upcoming “Six Pack of Fear” – a collection of six short stories written by herself and Barbara Watkins.  Well the wait is over and you will find it here – Six Pack of Fear – Amazon  I don’t really need to explain what the stories are about, right?  I mean just look at the cover and think of the word FEAR and that sums it up quite nicely.  Mills and Boon this is not!

The brief for the art was simple – here are the titles and a quick synopsis of each story, don’t spend too much time on each piece,  (Betty knows how long I spend on my work….hehehe), and see what you come up with.

I had never produced work for a Kindle book before, so she sent me samples of the work done in their previous book “Six Pack of Blood” and I went from there.

I had a lot of fun doing it, and with Betty checking each one to see how it would look on her Kindle, making suggestions about content (after all the Author knows how the story should be portrayed, right!), we finally got them all done and I simply sat back waiting…..

I can share two of them here with you as these have already been posted, however the other four will be found in the book itself.   The cover art work was done by Matt and Danielle Drake who also produced the cover and artwork  for  Six Pack of Blood.  (Correct me if I am wrong Betty!!)

Here we have “Saving the GPS Lady”, and “The Devil House”.   If you have ever seen any of my paintings, you will also notice that above the fire place in the Devil house pic is my version of a Bouguereau. Bet he never thought his work would end up there!

So, if you are a horror/paranormal fan, go check out Betty and Barbara’s latest offering (the link is at the beginning of this blog).  It already has rave reviews and an award from Zodiac Entertainment!

Congratulations to Betty and Barbara, and thank you for allowing me to be part of Six Pack of Fear!

  1. Wow, Sally! Not only are you a fine artist but you're a fantastic blogger too. I read all of your blogs and you truly have a knack for tying things together, pacing, etc. but most of all, you always manage to find humor in everything… even in fear. (These stories are scary, creepy, but more in the FEAR category than true outright horror!)

You are right about Matt and Danielle doing the cover for both books. Thanks for mentioning them.

It's always fun working with you and I hope everyone enjoys the six illustrations you so kindly did for me and Barbara.

What a stupendous feeling to awaken and find a special blog written about our new book.

    Thanks millions!

    Hugs – Betty

  3. Thanks Betty, it's always nice to post a blog where it's not just about my art, but where it's ended up! I really enjoy writing, always have – maybe I should write a book…hahahah!!

    Glad you enjoyed it xxxx

  4. Hey Barbara 🙂 Lovely to see you and thank you for dropping in. I am so glad you and Betty loved the work – it was a blast putting it all together. The more I do, the more I learn – and as I said to Betty, I do love writing and admire all you authors for your amazing talents too!
